Twilight: Movie Review

Twilight, Twilight, Twilight. Neither me or any of my guy friends have ever heard of this book or movie. Yet every female I know seems to be obsessed. That being considered, I'm quite shocked that I'd never heard of this at all!

So I saw the movie last night, without having read the book, or having any idea about the movie...... and I was entertained.

I felt like I was at the premiere of the 4th Star Wars movie. Instead of being in a theatre full of nerdy guys, I was in a room of bright eyed girls..... but the energy was the same. You could feel it vibrating through the room.

Truth be told, I slept through the first 10 minutes....LOL. But the rest was good enough to keep me awake!

Twilight is the classic story of forbidden love. Think Romeo and Juliet for vampires. Thankfully, the movie kept a good pace. It developed the characters enough, without letting it drag on. Another massive theme was protection. I'm talking about the ultimate protection for the one that you love. Protection from you, as well as protection from the outside world. And with that protection come ultimate trust. Can she trust that she will always be protected. Think about that..... as far as I'm concerned, you can't have true love without protection and trust, and that's what this movie portrays for these two.

The movie was quite stylised as well, with a very cold colour pallet and cool camera work.

Some parts got pretty "fromage", but it didn't take away too much.

Then there was the moment before the first kiss between vampire boy and human girl. You could feel the anticipation in the room. It was all quite amusing for me actually. Every single female in the audience was holding their breath.... then BANG! Climax! Literally and figuratively! LOL

So guys... take your women to this movie. Like I said, I could sense how hot and bothered every woman in the room was. Not to mention there's a few good action scenes and a few laughs to keep the men entertained.

Plus vampire boy is a crazy good driver.... (I'm in love with Audi now!)

Twilight gets a 8.5 on 10 on the Tripp Scale!

Film Review: Saw 5

First off, I'm a huge horror film fan. And I don't often listen to critics when it comes to those types of movies......

They are what they are, and that's why I like them! And I've always like the Saw series.

Compared to other horror film series, this one actually ties together with it's predecessors. You can kind of tell that it was written backwards, as in they have to make up some back story to fit the current story.

So Saw is all about the death sequences right..... RIGHT! Well, they didn't disappoint! Let's just say they were even given a bit of a twist, so that was a nice change!

You know what though.... I almost dare to say that I'm not getting that grossed out anymore with these movies. I cool storyline does keep these Saw movies somewhat fresh though.

I suggest if you're a Saw fan, and I know there are a ton out there considering how much money this film series has made (the first Saw was supposed to be direct to DVD) you will continue to enjoy the series..... You know, the series where the good guys never win! HA!

14 hours, 54 Minutes, and 58 Seconds

That's the amount of time left until the wedding as of when I've started typing this post. I cannot believe we are this close!! After a crazy 6 weeks we are soooo close, which leaves one very important question! What is going to happen tomorrow morning when the Monday and Manday meet at the alter?!

Opinions range from "happily ever after" to "happily never happens"! And the truth is that at this point we have absolutely no idea as to what is going to happen!

Don't forget you can listen online or on the radio at 8am and WATCH the festivities all happen via webcam at energy1015.com!

Dont forget to give me a call tonight at 1-866-467-1015 and let me know what you think about what's going to happen tomorrow!

Two Strangers in the Night

You know when you meet someone new. That first phone conversation can be pretty nerve racking..... Does the person want to talk to me? Are we going to have anything to talk about? Is it going to be awkward? Am I going to say something stupid?

So many questions, but imagine that you were going to marry that person within two weeks?! Ya, all those little questions don't seem to matter as much eh?! LOL

That's what's going on all this week on my show. We are down to the 5 groom finalists and every night between 7p and 10p I'll be airing segments of a phone conversation between our bride "Monday" and each days groom finalist!

We are going to hear two people fall in love live on the radio! How crazy is that!!! Or the converstation could be a train wreck! Either way, I'll be entertained and you will be too! Trust me!

This is like blind phone date with a wedding attached at the end! Come on, not even the producers of the TV show "Blind Date" could have thought of this!

So make sure to listen every night this week to hear all the drama between 6p and 10p on Energy 101.5!

The Plot Thickens.....

Well, our social experiment "2 Strangers & a Wedding" has been going great so far! We have a fabulous bride who will definitely make a great wife!

Talked to her yesterday about her celebrity crush which started off as Brian Austin Green, and ended up being Kelly Hrudy! Yes, Hockey Night in Canada's Kelly Hrudy! Too funny! Gotta love her!

So I just found out that tomorrow on Page 6 of the Calgary Sun, apparently there will be a picture of Monday, our bride! Ummmm..... Pretty sure no one is supposed to see her until the wedding. K, not pretty sure....positive!

Not to sure what the deal is with this picture, but I'm going to have Kelly Doody (page 6 writer) on with me in the 6pm hour tonight to get the inside scoop...... and apparently she has some other big news for me!

Where else can you find this kind of drama?! LOL!

Talk to y'all tonight!

Lip Service

K..... time for a good old fashioned rant. I talked about this on the air Sunday night, and I want to reiterate!!!

Ladies....... you may think biting a dude's lip while kissing is HAWT.....IT'S NOT!

A nibble is hawt! Taking out a fork and knife and having dinner on a lip is NOT!

Here's an easy gage....

- The guy moans a little and nibbles back: GOOD!

- The guy pulls away every time you do it and has to start kissing you differently because he doesn't want you to do it again:BAD

- You start to notice that you're pulling skin off and perhaps start to taste blood:VERY BAD

So keep this in mind next time you decide to go get some mouth to mouth action!

This Bride is on Fire!

In case you missed it, Monday's bride is the one who will be at the altar on October 30th for 2 Strangers and a Wedding!

What a smart and intelligent woman! Wish I could tell you she was beautiful but as it turns out I actually haven't seen her! But that's the point.... is love blind?!

So this has been quite a week for her. Last night she tried on wedding dresses and tonight she's having what I have dubbed as a "Planning Party". She's hooking up with the wedding planner and her close friends to try different cakes, and pick out stuff like the music and flowers!

I wonder what a guy version of this would be like?! LOL! I'm thinking guys hanging out, drinking beer watching football and getting nothing accomplished other than picking out what flavour of chicken wings they'll have at the wedding..... Oh, and perhaps a discussion on what brides maids the grooms buddies shoud go after!

Anyway, after 7p tonight I'll have our bride on the phone to discuss all the estrogen fueled fun of tonight's "Planning Party"!

Runaway Bride!

Our social experiment "2 Strangers and a Wedding" has been pretty much going off without a any major hitches........ and the today!

At the last second, Friday's Bride decided to bow out of Two Starangers.... She said she decided back on Tuesday but took the rest of the week to think about it.

The feedback today has been crazy. Some people have been very sympatetic. Others, not so much.

Our boss Rob Mise was none to pleased either apparently...... I think the words he used were "we got snowed"! Guess the worst part is that there were a bunch of other bride finalists that never got the chance to be in the top 5.....

and so it goes......

We now move on with only 4 finalists, that are all amazing and worthy of your vote! You can vote on the final 4 all weekend long at energy1015.com!

Vote your brains out.... because we all know this is way more interesting then the federal election! :)

BIG NEWS!!!

Hey friends! OK, so lots of huge things going on in Energy 101.5 land lately!

First off, 2 Strangers and A Wedding is on and just rockin' right now. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go to energy1015.com. To make a long story short, we're going to get 2 people to meet at the altar and say "I Do" before actually ever seeing each other!

Sounds crazy.... I know! But we're taking this very seriously and putting the candidates through some crazy screening processes! (including lie detector tests live on the air!)

Something like 35 brides have applied so far! That's nutty!

We also have a VERY pink SUV driving around with the 2 Stranges and a Wedding logo on it. I was actually touring around in it yesterday...... I think VERY pink may be and understatement!

I actually had to keep looking down to make sure I was still attached while driving that thing! Don't think anyone could ever again question if I'm comfortable with my masculinity! LOL!

AIGGGHHHHTTT.......... Here's the other big news!

As of September 25th, I will be starting the all new Evening Show on Energy 101.5. I'll be live Monday to Friday from 6pm to 11pm! I have some really big plans for the show which will all slowly develop over the coming months. I have a somewhat wacky life and nothing will be off limits as far as I'm concerned once we get rolling!

All the HOTTEST music along with all the HOTTEST chat and listener interaction! It will truly be "a show"!

That being said, I need a name for the show! Please send forth your ideas!

If your idea stick I will be eternally grateful, and will def owe you a few drinks at The Whiskey.... (which I'm live at every Saturday night!!!)

Today's Bryan Adams Song Quote:

"it's not my style, I live for the minute,

if ya wanna stay young get both feet in it!"

Saturday Night Live To Air At The Whiskey

Sooooooooo stoked for this Saturday. Energy 101.5. Is starting a very special Live To Air from The Whiskey om 10th ave!

What does that mean you ask?

That means everything that happens in the club between 9p and 1a will be going on the radio. Trust me, if you're gonna be listening Saturday night, you're gonna wanna come by and say hello!

Zack from the afternoon show is going to be DJing and he's honestly one of the best DJs I've ever heard! He's been spinning for 16 years for God sakes!

As for The Whiskey..... the closest you're gonna find to a Vegas nightclub in Calgary. The decor is HAWT, the light show is HAWT, and the people are even HAWTTER!

And I'll be hosting and generally having a lot of fun! So here is the deal. Find me near the DJ booth. Come say hello, and we're gonna party!! How simple is that?!

See you Saturday night at The Whiskey!

Mid-Twenties Crisis

I've just discovered the mid-twenties crisis! So if a mid-life crisis is getting old and buying and doing things that you would feel like you're in your twenties again, then the mid-twenties crisis is doing something in you mid-twenties that makes you feel like a teenager again!

And truth be told, it's not really a crisis! It's a good thing.....

So for whatever reason, I whole heartedly, of sound heart and mind, decided to go buy a comic book! I used to love comic books and all things nerdy when I was 15, but I haven't bought one since then!

I walked into the comic book store and it was fricken' surreal because now I can have anything I wanted in the store which definitely wasn't the case when I was 15.

That is the coolest feeling in the world.

So take advantage of your mid-twenties...... um, situation! Now that you have some money go and do something that you loved when you were a teenager, but couldn't do as much as you would have liked to because of obvious reasons. Chances are you'll still enjoy it in your mid-twenties!

My partner in crime, Kjarlune Rae (Canada's top clarivoyant and manifestation expert) liked to drink and hang out with her boyfriend at 15, so I suggested she go clear out a liquor store, and perhaps hire an escort to enjoy it with! LOL!

So don't mind me.... I'll be over here nerding it up with my new Spiderman comic book. Time for this kid to go on a living spree!

Who Has Time to Shop For Cards?

Who has time to shop for cards? I'm talking about birthday cards, wedding cards, anniversary cards, etc......

So here's the thing, walk into a pharmacy or a card store, and needless to say, there are a lot of cards to choose from! Different colours, different shapes, different sizes, they sing, they dance, they tell a story, they pop out, they colapse in, they cook you dinner (ok, they don't do that.....yet)!

Bottom line is that there is a ton of selection....but here's the thing! It still only takes men 5 minutes max to find a card. So who has time? Men do!

Women on the other hand....... what a mess! Might as well pack a lunch becasue we're gonna be here a while! Guys..... do not go card shopping with women if you at all value your time! I'd say it takes a minimum of 20 minutes per card.

And women, don't bother asking the chump you brought along if "they like this card". You may as well bring in a tape player that has the line "ya babe, that's a good one" on repeat!

Now you may ask why it takes them so long.... Bottom line is that they are looking for the perfect card that relates to whomever they're buying the card for and the relationship they share with that person.... Most ironic part is that despite how personal they want the card to be, it was written by someone else!! I'd rather a hand written note any day!

All this brings me to one conclusion. Despite how often women preach "it's the thought that counts" it's obviosly not the case. Guys can pick out any card in 5 minutes and it doesn't matter because "it's the thought that counts"! Obviously not the case with women because to them it's "whatever someone else wrote on this card is what counts"!

Guys, if you happen to get dragged into a pharmacy with a girl, let's hope it's to pick up tampons.... Although you may suffer from a lack of dignity, atleast you get to keep your precious time!

Break Up Songs

There's 2 things I associate with my ex-girlfriends which I'll never forget.

1. Their smell...

2. The break up song.....

You know whenever you smell your ex's smell it'll pop right out at you. That's usually a good association or memory. The break up song...... maybe not!

So, here is the list of break up songs from my last four long term girlfriends.

Nadia: "This Love" by Maroon 5
Wasn't even with her for that long, but it really hit me hard for some reason. Plus it was on and off a couple times. So the line "this love has taken it's toll on me" really made me feel better.

Sasha: "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down
We didn't really break up. We had to becasue after 9 months she moved to Spain for school. So the reason for this song is pretty obvious.

Kassandra: "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder
I started dating my next girlfriend shortly after i broke up with Kassandra. Was with her for around 2 and a half years. Anyway, while I was with my new gf I was still pretty hung up for a while, so if you know the song, you know why it fits.

Sarah: "For The Nights I Can't Remember" by Hedley
We lasted about a year and a half. The whole thing was pretty rocky but was the first gf I lived with. The 6 months we lived together were horrible, and for some odd reason, it still kinda stings 8 months after we broke up..... weird! So the line "If fallin' for you girl is crazy, then I'm going out of my mind" kinda hit home for me.

So there you have it.... What are your break up songs?!!!

Update: July 18, 2:40pm

Found some stuff out..... it doesn't sting anymore! lol

Reason Why It Sometimes Sucks To Have A Girlfriend

I was in Edmonton last night to hang out with the Rockstar crew. Includes my good friend Adam H. who is the manager and producer for Canadian recording artist Elise Estrada. They're opening up for 50 Cent on his Canadian dates.

So some random people came to the afterparty which include a couple that are apparently engaged. Nice enough people.... Anyway, we were in the VIP area at a club, and in the VIP area Lloyd Banks (who is part of G-Unit) had his own private section.

I look over and the female in the couple was in there full on "groupie" style. Drinking, partying with the G-Unit guys. I look over and there is her fiancee standing around like a chump on the other side of the room, trying to pretend like he wasn't paying attention, but I saw right through it!! Why did I see through it???

Last summer my live in girlfriend was doing the same with Nickelback. I even went to the bar and she wouldn't hang out with me.... Then the next day I see pics of them together, hugging, cheek kissing, and overall her being uber-disrespectful. Worst part was my mom and friends had to see the pics because they were on facebook! Should have left her right then instead of hanging around for a few more months of crap....

So back to last night, the girl got super drunk and he had to take care of her after.... I feel bad for him. He tried to play it cool, but if that shows you're jealous, them I'm jealous. Just disrespectful! I've been there, it feels like crap and is the....... "Reason Why It Sometimes Sucks To Have A Girlfriend".

PS: I say "sometimes sucks" because if you're with the right person, this stuff never even comes up.
